Skyler King is a global HR professional with a customer-service mindset, knack for analysis, and works to build productive relationships with leaders, colleagues, and employees. Skyler earned a bachelor of business administration degree in Management & Human Resources and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Skyler also holds an HR certification from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).
At the University of Wisconsin, Skyler was an active member of Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional, co-ed business fraternity. He served for three semesters on the chapter's executive board and was the chapter's representative to the international chapter congress. Skyler's studies often incorporated courses with global perspectives and how organizations can participate responsibly in the communities they do business.
After graduation, Skyler took time off before starting work to travel and "study abroad", visiting four countries, spending time with local communities, visiting cultural heritage sites, and frequenting museums and galleries.
Skyler began his career in HR consulting, supporting multi-state employers across the United States, where he advised on HR strategy, organizational design, complex employee relations, and the makeup of benefit portfolios for his clients. After four years in HR consulting, Skyler transitioned to the global HR team of a large pharmaceutical research organization where he supports leaders in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Skyler advises on long-term talent strategies, workforce planning, and organizational design.
As an active member of the community, Skyler participates in BioHR, a life sciences HR networking and industry consortium, where HR professionals in the Madison area life sciences collaborate on mutual talent challenges and best practices. Skyler has also supported multiple non-profits and their boards of directors on HR and compensation-related challenges, including Domestic Abuse Intervention Services, Middleton Outreach Ministry, and Employment Resources, Inc. Skyler also regularly attends and participates in networking events with Greater Madison Area Society for Human Resources Management (GMA SHRM).
